La Uni\u00f3n Interparlamentaria Mundial, IPU, reunida en su 152 Asamblea General, eligi\u00f3 a Anda Filip, como Secretaria General, la primera mujer en dirigir la m\u00e1s antigua de las organizaciones internacionales, creada en 1889 y con sede en Ginebra, Suiza. Inicia su gesti\u00f3n el 1\u00b0 de julio pr\u00f3ximo integr\u00e1ndose al peque\u00f1o grupo de instituciones internacionales presididas por mujeres.<\/p>\n
En Estambul, Turqu\u00eda, 72 por ciento de las 183 delegaciones parlamentarias consolidando la tendencia en alza del \u201ctiempo de mujeres\u201d votaron a favor de la rumana, Anda Filip, funcionaria del IPU desde 2003, contendiendo con otras tres mujeres y un hombre candidatos. Es la novena persona en ser elegida para el puesto y la primera mujer.<\/p>\n
La UIP ha tenido solamente dos mujeres presidentas: la mexicana, Gabriela Cuevas Barr\u00f3n, 2017-2020, en ese tiempo integrante del Congreso de M\u00e9xico como diputada de Morena, la mujer m\u00e1s joven presidiendo la instituci\u00f3n parlamentaria, y la hind\u00fa, Nashma Hepdulla, 1999-2002.<\/p>\n
Anda Filip pasa a ser la novena titular de la UIP en 137 a\u00f1os. De 2003 a 2011 fue Observadora Permanente ante la ONU en Nueva York; de 2011 a la fecha ha sido Directora de la membres\u00eda parlamentaria y de Relaciones Exteriores (Estados Unidos se retir\u00f3 de la UIP en 2003).
